A little upkeep goes a long way
Every piece we make pairs lab grown gemstones with gold. Both are built to last, but a few simple habits keep them looking their best for years to come.
Everyday habits
Three habits, worth keeping
01
Clean it regularly
Soak in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, then gently brush with a soft toothbrush to lift oils and buildup. Rinse and pat dry with a soft cloth.
02
Store it separately
Keep each piece in its own pouch or a lined compartment. Stones and metals can scratch each other when tossed in together.
03
Take it off first
Remove jewelry before showering, swimming, exercising, or applying lotion and perfume. Chemicals and impact are the biggest causes of wear.

Caring for your gold
| Metal | Care notes |
|---|---|
| White gold | Plated with rhodium for its bright white finish. This plating can wear over time, so have it re-plated every 1 to 2 years to keep that crisp, white look. |
| Yellow gold | Naturally warm-toned all the way through, so it doesn't need re-plating. Clean gently and avoid chlorine, which can weaken gold alloys over time. |
| Rose gold | Gets its warm pink hue from a copper alloy mixed into the gold. Durable and low maintenance, though a soft cloth polish keeps its glow consistent. |
Keeping it safe
A few things to avoid
Chlorine and harsh cleaning chemicals can damage both gold and lab grown gemstones over time, so remove jewelry before swimming or cleaning the house. Ultrasonic cleaners are safe for lab grown diamonds and sapphires but can damage softer lab grown stones like emerald, so when in doubt, stick to warm water and a soft brush. Extreme temperature changes, like a hot shower followed by cold air, can also stress certain gemstones, lab grown or not.
Professional care
When to see a jeweler
Bring your pieces in for a professional check-up once a year. A jeweler can tighten loose prongs, check that stones are secure, re-polish metal, and catch small issues before they become bigger ones. If a stone ever feels loose or you notice a chip or scratch, have it looked at right away rather than waiting for the annual check.
Common questions
Good to know
Can I shower or swim while wearing my jewelry?
It's best to take it off first. Chlorine, salt water, and soap residue can dull metal and, over time, loosen prong settings.
How often should I clean my jewelry?
A gentle clean every couple of weeks keeps everyday pieces looking their best, especially rings worn daily.
Is it safe to use an at-home ultrasonic cleaner?
It's generally safe for lab grown diamonds, sapphires, and rubies, but not recommended for lab grown emerald or other softer stones.
